Engineering courses
Due to current unfavorable conditions, we will suspend college operations for the academic year 2015-16. The information provided on this site refers to our courses as they were offered during 2013-14 and as they will hopefully be offered again during 2019-20.
MAIN COURSES
The full courses in Greece last two years with a minimum compulsory attendance of 16 hours lecture per week for 26 weeks a year.
There are three disciplines:
-
Mechanical Engineering
-
Civil Engineering
-
Electrical & Electronic Engineering
The first year programme of studies is common for all disciplines.
The content of the above programmes guarantees that graduates will have developed specific professional skills while, at the same time, will give them the opportunity to continue their studies to obtain a British University Degree (BACHELOR).
Since 2008, the Department of Architecture was separated from the rest Engineering programs and it became independent.
At the end of the second year in Greece students are awarded the Certificate of Higher Education in one of the above disciplines. Starting from 2014 – 2015 cooperations with other Universities will commence.
With this Certificate graduates can continue their studies for a BACHELOR’S degree at British Universities, after another two years of study.
The entry requirements are the same as those of the programmes run entirely in Greece.
DIPLOMAS – DEGREES
FIRST DIPLOMA
At the end of the 2nd year, the graduates are awarded the Certificate of Higher Education.
The certificate is awarded by the British University.
BACHELOR'S DEGREE
Graduates holding a Diploma with a satisfactory grade can apply to British Universities, in order to continue their studies for two or more years and be awarded a B.Sc. degree or B.Eng. degree.
Besides the above students must have an IELTS with a score of at least 6.0.
SPECIALIZATIONS AT BRITISH UNIVERSITIES
Students who will continue their studies at British Universities can specialize in the following sectors per course and obtain a Bachelor’s degree:
Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Electrical – Electronic Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
Civil Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
STUDIES IN OTHER UNIVERSITIES
For students wishing to continue their studies in other British Universities, BRITISH HELLENIC COLLEGE undertakes the task to help them in the procedure of applying and forwarding their UCAS’ forms.
Students choose their area of study with the help of their educational director.
The final decision about the educational institution that will accept each student is based on the wish of the student, on the student’s graduate grade and on the positions available in that particular institution.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Professional engineers can specialize in a large number of areas.
They are needed in all industrial sectors and manufactures and their responsibilities vary from planning, research and development to design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of mechanical structures.
They can be employed in public and private companies and research centers and occupy highly qualified positions dealing with power, transport, defense, health and education.
A successful career demands the appropriate training of modern engineering applications and the understanding of responsibilities towards society.
Furthermore, a good knowledge of computing is essential to modern engineers.
LABORATORIES
It is compulsory for students to attend classes in the labs, which constitute a significant part of the programme of studies.
The labs, which are fully equipped, cover courses in the following subjects:
Mechanical Technology
Mechanical Engineering
Materials Technology
Electrical-Electronic Engineering
Electrical and Electronic Measurements
Computing
Design with the help of computers (CAD)
